The site can be found on the Akeld to Kirknewton road (B6351) to the west of the village of Wooler in Northumberland. The area excavated by Brian Hope-Taylor and the site of the Anglian palace complex lies in a field to the north of the road. A prominent monument by the roadside with a parking lay-by marks the spot.
